Amanda Vel

Amanda graduated form the University of York in 2025 with a first-class MChem in Chemistry. During her studies she undertook two organic synthesis internships, and was a course representative for her cohort. Her masters project involved the design and synthesis of organometallic silver complexes to inhibit glycolysis for anti-cancer applications.
Amanda's PhD, split between the Lovell lab at Bath and the Laabei lab at Bristol, is focused on the high-throughput synthesis of covalent inhibitor libraries to combat antimicrobial resistance in S. aureus.
In her spare time, Amanda enjoys climbing, crochet and visiting cafes.
