Darren Richards
Started April 2026: Funded by UKRI (Future Leaders Fellowship)
Darren completed his PhD at the University of Bath, where he conducted research in synthetic organic chemistry under the supervision of Dr Alex Cresswell. During this time, his doctoral work was focused on developing new methodologies to access medicinally valuable amine-containing building blocks using photoredox catalysis.
Following his PhD, Darren transitioned into the field of chemical biology where he is now attempting to develop new covalent inhibitors to target challenging protein binding sites, with the aim of advancing treatments for diseases.
Outside of the lab, Darren enjoys exercise, going for coffee, and playing guitar in the department chemistry band.
